Reino Wikmalm

Partner and Senior Consultant

Educational Background

Reino began studying the Masters Degree programme in psychology in 1982 and graduated from Göteborg University in 1987 after specialising in organisational behaviour and development.

Professional Experience

Reino’s interest in psychology is almost certainly due to his multifaceted work and life experience from 1969 to 1981. During this period he undertook numerous posts which included everything from blue-collar roles through to management positions. He also travelled extensively during this period and took part in team adventures.

At the beginning of the eighties, Reino pursued a career in management recruitment and selection and co-founded a successful company whilst studying at Göteborg University.

In 1989 he accepted a position as In-house Consultant and Human Resource Specialist at Ericsson. At this point in time, Reino was particularly interested in the long term view of large organisations and the possibility to influence their efficiency with the help of education and training.

In 1991, Reino co-founded Svensson & Wikmalm Management Development AB. Besides developing his own tailor-made interventions, courses and seminars, Reino is also a certified practitioner of a number of standard programmes, instruments and tests, among them Positive Power & Influence, Positive Negotiation, Authentic Leadership, Positive Dialogue, Apters AMSP and ALPS, Decision Dynamics JTI and Decision Styles, MBTI, Belbin, FIRO and numerous psychometric tools.

He is currently working as a consultant and executive coach, both in Sweden and abroad. Amongst his clients you will find: Ericsson, Akzo Nobel, ESAB, SCA, CRH, Volvo, Astra Zeneca, Delphi Automotive, ICON, RUAG Aerospace, Chalmers University, ABN Amro and ISS.

Reino's philosophy is to emphasise the necessary interaction between knowing, doing and being. In order to create impact and sustainable change in individuals and organisations you need to be able to understand both the interpersonal processes within groups and between people, as well as address the intellectual, the behavioural and the emotional agenda within them.

Reino’s major areas of interest are motivation and defences, communication and influence, conflict and co-creation and change and development. He has also been strongly influenced by several other sources of theoretical inspiration such as social constructionism, Apters Reversal Theory and the systemic framework.

Family Life

Reino is married to Leena, the co-founder of Svensson and Wikmalm. They have five children. He is passionate about sailing and owns his own boat. The family live in Göteborg, which is located on the west coast of Sweden.
