about Svensson & Wikmalm

We have been running the consulting firm of Svensson & Wikmalm together since its start in 1991. Our primary focus areas are leadership, team development, organisational development, coaching assessment/recruitment, etc. We are both psychologists, specialising in organisational and occupational psychology.

In the years we have worked as consultants in the business community, in industry and in other organisations both in Sweden and abroad, we have amassed extensive experience and strong references from many different sectors.

We are in a continuous learning process, and take care to create opportunities for our own growth and development, both personally and in terms of knowledge and skills.

Our approach to our work is characterised by interactivity, training and action balanced with reflection, analysis and discussion.

Working methods

We prefer to focus on positives and strengths, and build on them to generate energy to elevate those areas that need to be strengthened.

Our models and teaching methods vary. We work eclectically and, in addition to the usual leadership models, draw inspiration from disciplines such as action learning, systematic thinking, cognitive theories, behavioural research and social constructionism.

Cooperative partners

We work in a loosely knit network of colleagues. The resulting diversity in terms of experience, background and interests benefits our clients and makes our work more interesting and flexible.

Leena Wikmalm

Partner and Senior Consultant

Leena is inspiring, creative and gives people energy. She is competent and experienced at a level which is rare amongst senior consultants. At the same time she is capable of carefully interpreting a situation and avoids presenting ready-made solutions. Leena is an incredibly appreciated consultant regarding large as well as small scale projects. Appreciated for making sure that each and everyone's voice is heard, not just those who are already “in the know”. She is competent at explaining and exemplifying difficulties, aspects which make things problematic for people in groups and organisations. Leena helps people recognise themselves and, at the same time, she helps them to seek and find new perspectives. She likes to look beyond what one “takes for granted”. Not only does she help people take themselves seriously, she also helps them to see that if a person chooses to start thinking, doing and saying things differently, changes will happen. She perceives frustration as an expression of “frozen dreams” – a person who is frustrated is in contact with how things could be better! Leena has a constant thirst for knowledge and now devotes half her time to her doctorate which concerns how knowledge transfer takes place in knowledge intensive companies, which in turn has given her a unique opportunity to gain an insight into organisations’ and people's everyday lives from another angle.

Reino Wikmalm

Partner and Senior Consultant

Reino creates interest, a sense of security and always shows involvement. For several consecutive years he has been nominated best lecturer by Champs. Reino does not lecture in the traditional sense of the word. He creates a process with the participants at that particular time. There is nothing to “get through” and no one should “sit on their high horses” – the consultant is there for the participants’ sake. It is their curiosity and learning which should be the centre of attention; they are the ones that should come away from the session with something that makes a real difference. Few other consultants are as free to meet people where they are, because this requires the skill to know when to depart from the "agenda" and from what was planned in advance. In other words, Reino simply takes people and their time seriously. He has exceptionally extensive experience, not only of different lines of business, but also of people and the different situations people have to deal with, for better and for worse. Reino always makes sure he has as much background information as possible and he is knowledgeable, curious, engaging and inspiring. Leadership, executive group work, processes of change – Reino has an impact on people and he also highlights aspects which may not have been included in the ‘model’; features that the theory in question could not really reconcile with reality. After all, this is where the results should be created. He does not shy away from stepping out of his own comfort zone; he looks upon this more as an interesting and instructive experience – life is like that, isn't it? For this reason Reino is also very good at solving conflicts – maybe he is the best. He understands what the act of listening is really all about.
